Proverbs 4:23-27 Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
Turn not to the right hand or to the left; remove thy foot from evil.
In the seventeenth century, a revolutionary discovery was made by William Harvey, which revolutionized medical science and the circulation of blood. Two thousand seven hundred years earlier, the author of Proverbs recognized the importance of the heart for maintaining life. The heart symbolizes the center of one's innermost being. In Matthew 15:19 Jesus says that it isn't what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out of a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
Keep thy heart with all diligence. Set a strict guard upon your heart and soul. Keep it from doing hurt and getting hurt. Because out of it are the issues of life.
