11. God's Love: Near to the Brokenhearted

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and He delivers those whose spirit has been crushed.

The world is full of people with broken hearts and shattered hopes, but what a wonderful thing that "the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart."

Jeremiah 30:17 Indeed, I'll bring you healing, and I'll heal you of your wounds, declares the Lord.

Psalm 109:22 Indeed, I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. I am fading away like a shadow late in the day; I am shaken off like a locust
Vs. 26 Help me, Lord my God! Deliver me in accord with your gracious love! Then they will realize that Your hand is in this - that You, Lord, have accomplished it.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds.
Vs. 5 Our Lord is great and rich in power; His understanding has no limitation.
The Lord supports the afflicted while He casts the wicked to the ground.

When Job lost everything, he grieved, yet he worshiped God and remained faithful. Although he had doubts about God's goodness in the face of these terrible events, through the trial, he grew closer to God through God's revelation of Himself. (Job 42:1-5)

God is faithful, good, and trustworthy.

Steps to overcoming heartbreak

Romans 8:32 The one who did not spare His own Son, but offered Him as a sacrifice for all of us, surely will give us all things, along with His Son, won't He?

Hebrews 13:5 He will never leave you nor forsake you.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah! He is our merciful Father and the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our suffering so that we may be able to comfort others in all their suffering, as we ourselves are being comforted by God.

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I'll be with you; and through the rivers, they won't sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you won't be scorched, and the flame won't set you ablaze.

2 Corinthians 12:9 but he has told me, "My grace is all you need because my power is perfected in weakness." Therefore, I will most happily boast about my weaknesses so that the Messiah's power may rest on me.
