Gospel Truth: The Door

Gospel Truth: The Door

May 7, 2025

John 10:7-10 So again Jesus said, "Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep didn't listen to them. I am the Door of the sheep. If anyone enters through me, he will come in and go out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. The hired worker who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep sees the wolf coming, deserts the sheep, and runs away. So the wolf snatches them and scatters them, because he is a hired worker, and the sheep don't matter to him. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.

Jesus Christ is the Door. What greater security do believers have than knowing that the Lord Jesus stands between them and all their enemies? He is a door that opens for passage and communication. Here are clear directions on how to enter the fold: we must come in through Jesus Christ, who is the Door, by placing our faith in Him as the great Mediator between God and humanity. Additionally, there are precious promises for those who follow this guidance. Christ takes all the care of His church and every believer, just as a good shepherd cares for his flock. He expects the church and each believer to rely on Him and remain within His pasture.
