X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=TEXT/HTML:<p>Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Don't
be fearful or discouraged\, because the Lord your God is with you wherever
you go.</p>\n<p>Joshua believed in God's power and willingness to bring H
is power to bear on behalf of His people. He knew that nothing was too har
d for God. If God had chosen him to be the one to succeed Moses and lead H
is people\, then that was what God was going to do.   </p>\n<p>Joshua al
so believed in God's promises. He knew that God had promised his forefathe
r\, Abraham\, that he and his descendants would occupy the land. (Genesis
12:1-2 and 13:15)</p>\n<p>Joshua 1:5 I'll neither fail you nor abandon you
.</p>\n<p>Joshua 1:9 because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go
.</p>\n<p>Joshua believed that God was all-powerful\, kept His promises\,
and would be with him personally. Jesus promises this to us today:  </p>
\n<p>Matthew 28:20 Remember\, I am with you each and every day until the e
nd of the age.</p>\n<p>The book of Joshua tells us how to be victorious so
ldiers and how to claim our rich spiritual inheritance in Jesus Christ. It
teaches us how to be strong and courageous as we face our enemies and mov
e forward to claim our own inheritance from the Lord.  </p>\n<p>Ephesian
s 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus\, the Messiah! He ha
s blessed us in the Messiah with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly
realm\, just as He chose us in the Messiah before the creation of the univ
erse to be holy and blameless in His presence.</p>\n<p>Joshua 1:8 This set
of instructions is not to cease being a part of your conversations. Medit
ate on it day and night\, so that you may be careful to carry out everythi
ng that's written in it\, for then you'll prosper and succeed.</p>\n<p>Mos
es died in the land of Moab\, within sight of the promised land. To Joshua
\, his successor\, was left the mission of leading Israel across the Jorda
n into Canaan. The book of Joshua records the history of Israel from Joshu
a's appointment as Moses' successor to his death at the age of 110.</p>\n<p>Joshua 1:5 = Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money\,
and be content with what you have\, for God has said\, \"I will never leav
e you or abandon you.\"</p>\n<p>The account of Joshua records two of the m
ost remarkable miracles in history\, appropriately signaling God's determi
nation to fulfill His ancient promise to Abraham in giving the land of Can
aan to his seed. The heavy walls of Jericho at the entrance to this promis
ed land fell flat in response to the trumpets of the priests and the shout
of the people (6:15-20). Then the sun itself \"stood still in the midst o
f heaven\" (10:13) to enable Joshua's army to rout the confederation of Am
orites that otherwise might have turned them back.</p>\n<p>Scarlet Thread:
</p>\n<p>Hebrews 4:8 Joshua leading the people of God into the promised la
nd\, can even be considered as a type of the great \"Joshua\,\" the Lord J
esus\, leading His people to eternal life in the new Jerusalem.</p>\n<p>Ep
hesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus\, the Messiah!
He has blessed us in the Messiah with every spiritual blessing in the hea
venly realm\, just as He chose us in the Messiah before the creation of th
e universe to be holy and blameless in His presence.</p>\n<p>The name \"Jo
shua\" is equivalent to \"Jesus\,\" both meaning \"Jehovah is Savior.\" Jo
shua was the successor to Moses\, leading the children of Israel across th
e Jordan to conquer and inhabit the promised land of Canaan.  </p>\n
