X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=TEXT/HTML:<p>Psalm 57:7 My heart is fixed\, O God\, my h
eart is fixed. I will sing and give praise.</p>\n<p>What was David's situa
tion as he wrote this Psalm? He was in a cave along the Dead Sea by Engedi
\, hiding from Saul\, who was in hot pursuit of him and his small army of
vagabonds. In Psalm 57:1 David is crying out to God for mercy: Be merciful
unto me\, O God\, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusts in Thee: Yes\,
in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge\, until these calamities
be overpast.</p>\n<p>Through strong faith\, David's prayers and complaints
are turned into praise. His heart is fixed and prepared for every event\,
focused on God.</p>\n<p>Psalm 57:4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even
among them set on fire\, even the sons of men\, whose teeth are spears an
d arrows\, and their tongue a sharp sword.</p>\n<p>David's situation would
typically call for great anxiety and panic. Yet\, we see him calm\, firm\
, resolved\, and established when he begins to exalt God in his prayer: Be
Thou exalted\, O God\, above the heavens\; let Thy glory be above all the
earth. They have prepared a net for my steps\; my soul is bowed down: the
y have dug a pit before me\, into the midst whereof they are fallen themse
lves.</p>\n<p>Psalm 57:4-5 And then his resolve is spoken: My heart is fix
ed\, O God\, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.</p>\n<p>Psalm
108:1 says the same thing\, which helps us see that his heart is absolute
ly established toward God: O God\, my heart is fixed\; I will sing and giv
e praise even with my glory.</p>\n<p>I am resolved to trust Him\, serve Hi
m\, and praise Him. Though I have many trials to disturb me\, and many anx
ieties to toss me to and fro\, I am resolved and settled in my mind and wi
ll not be driven from it. I will praise God in the morning\, and my heart
will be strengthened and prepared for any conflicts of the day.</p>\n
