Kindness and Forgiveness

Kindness and Forgiveness

November 7, 2024

Ephesians 4:31-32  Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, quarreling and slander be put away from you, along with all hatred.  And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another just as God has forgiven you in the Messiah.

God's forgiveness causes us to forgive.  Except for the grace of God I find this nearly impossible.   But I fear grieving the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 4:30  Do not grieve the Holy Spirit

When I begin to slide down the slippery slope of anger and bitterness I must consider Psalm 4:4 - Be angry yet do not sin.  Think about this when upon your bed and be silent.

Get quietly into the presence of God and then you will be able to look at things from a right standpoint.

  • Let your thoughts fasten upon that which is good
  • Consider your ways and examine your own conscience with respect to what you have done in the day.
  • Repent and meditate upon God and things that bring peace.
  • Be still, be serious, be silent and wait for an answer when you have asked your conscience a question.
  • Put your trust in the Lord.

Anger and a refusal to forgive will only harm your own spiritual life.
