Daniel 2:20-22 May the name of God be blessed forever and ever; wisdom and power are His forevermore. It is God who alters the times and seasons, and He removes kings and promotes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals what is profoundly mysterious and knows what is in the darkness; with Him dwells light.
The book of Daniel has consistently captured interest and sparked debate within theological circles. At the same time, it has enthralled readers with tales of heroism during critical times and provided comfort to countless faithful believers as they reflect on powerful accounts of God's presence and blessings.
The first chapters of Daniel recount the specific experiences of Daniel and his three friends, who are Jewish youths held captive in Babylon during the sixth century BC. Their refusal to succumb to the pagan culture surrounding them, along with the dangers they face due to their faithfulness, forms the core of the story's drama. Their miraculous deliverances—Daniel from the lions' den and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace—illustrate God's power and love. Nebuchadnezzar, who is proud and secure in his tyranny, is humbled until he recognizes that God's providence governs even the life of a monarch. The phrase "the handwriting on the wall" has become a proverbial part of our language, largely due to the drama it encapsulates. Belshazzar's grave sin of arrogance toward God ultimately leads to his certain death and defeat. The narrative sections of the book, renowned as some of the most famous in literature, captivate our interest not only because of their dramatic elements but also due to their relevance in times when materialism and paganism threaten to overwhelm the children of God.
The major themes of prophecy in the book of Daniel are of vital importance to the Church today: the apostasy of God's people, the revelation of the man of sin, the tribulation, the Second Coming, the Millennium, and the Day of Judgment. As we delve into the book of Daniel, we encounter an interpretation of history that has already been significantly fulfilled and will eventually be completely realized. This assurance makes the book of Daniel both relevant and significant in our time.
The Book of Daniel is a valuable study for insights into God's sovereignty, prophecy, and the importance of faithfulness in challenging circumstances. It provides a framework for understanding history, interpreting prophecies about the end times, and learning valuable lessons about courage, integrity, and trust in God.
The 12 chapters of the Book of Daniel are packed with enough content for study and analysis to last a lifetime. God has a plan, and His plan is down to the intricate detail. God knows and is in control of the future. Everything that God has predicted has come true exactly as He predicted. Therefore, we should believe and trust that the things He has predicted for the future will one day occur exactly as God has declared.
Daniel 4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.
