The Great Horned Owl

Proverbs 16:16 How much better than gaining gold is the acquisition of wisdom, the attainment of wisdom better than silver!

Many cultures associate owls with wisdom and the supernatural because of their keen sense of sight and hearing.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is of utmost importance, therefore get wisdom, and with all your effort work to acquire understanding.

The soul not only needs knowledge, but the wisdom and intelligence to use it correctly. Wisdom will preserve from foolish decisions and guard those who seek her.

A Call to Pray

Owls can also symbolize tormenting loneliness, desolation, mourning and judgment.

Psalm 102:3-6 For my days are vanishing like smoke; my bones are charred as in a fireplace. Withered like grass, my heart is overwhelmed, and I have even forgotten to eat my food. Because of the sound of my sighing, my bones cling to my skin. I resemble a pelican in the wilderness or an owl in a desolate land.

Here is a prayer put into the hands of the afflicted. It is comfort to an afflicted spirit to unburden itself by honest confession of grief. Blessed be the name of the Lord who both gives and takes away for He remains the same and His years never end. (Psalm 102:27)
