Our Troops do not Deserve this Childish Behavior

June 17th, 2009 Administrator 1 comment

To try to sneak in an inclusion of a $108 billion line of credit for the International Monetary Fund in a war-spending bill and then call the GOP irresponsible for not supporting it is over the top! I’m sure the majority of American’s would be against yet another stimulus bailout bill especially if they knew and understood where that money was going. Congress is being irresponsible to *use* the troop’s funding to sneak in unrelated and special interest spending.

So who is the IMF and why do they need our money? Why does Obama and the Democrats think this is so important that it’s tacked on to a very important troop funding bill?
From the International Monetary Fund website:

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an organization of 185 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.

From Wall Street Journal - Presto: Another $750 Billion

the IMF was founded in 1944 when the world monetary system operated on a gold standard. The fund’s job was to act as a lender of last resort when countries encountered balance-of-payments shortfalls. When the world went to a fiat-currency system, the fund’s original role became obsolete. It is possible to argue that a modified version of the lender-of-last-resort remains important for the global financial system. But over the past 30 years the fund has increasingly strayed from that limited mission to become a vehicle for transferring wealth to poor-country governments. The London agreement further advances these foreign aid ambitions with no oversight from Congress.

The following summary shows the U.S. giving billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to countries and entities that support the destruction of the U.S. and our allies.
Summary: 2009 Supplemental Appropriations for Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Pandemic Flu As Passed by the Full Committee
Possibly worse than putting an IMF bailout over the troops is Americans allowing it to happen.

10 reasons why members of Congress should oppose including the IMF bailout funds in the supplemental and why, in fact, the IMF shouldn’t get a bailout at all.
