transcript of prayer:

Almighty God, for twelve months we have offered up prayers and you have bowed down your ear and heard them. We cried out to you to protect our loved ones and today you have delivered them to us again and we praise your most holy name. Now in this time of reunion we ask that you would bless them as they reunite with family and friends. Give them that peace that passes all understanding.
We pray this in your name, Amen

Put names and faces to the 13 murdered at Fort Hood, Texas on November 5, 2009:

  • Aaron Thomas Nemelka had big plans before he his deployment to Iraq: Christmas with his family in West Jordan, and a marriage proposal for his girlfriend.

“He was excited,” said Lindsey Nemelka, his sister-in-law. “He had the ring.”

  • John Gaffaney, a Serra Mesa Army reservist and supervisor in the county’s Adult Protective Services department, was one of 13 people killed when Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire in a crowded medical building.
  • Amy Krueger, A woman from Kiel, Wisconsin, was one of two from Wisconsin of the 13 people killed Thursday in the shootings at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas, and two others from the state were injured.
  • Russell Seager, 51, of Racine also died in the shootings, according to his uncle Larry Seager, who lives in Mauston.

Seager was licensed as a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse prescriber and worked at Zablocki VA Medical Center as a primary caregiver and provided mental health services to patients.

  • Francheska Velez of Chicago was one of the 13 people killed at Fort Hood yesterday. She was three months pregnant, her family said, making the news all the more bitter. She was scheduled to begin maternity leave in Chicago sometime in December.
  • Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, 22, was one of 13 soldiers killed when a gunman opened fire at a soldier readiness center on the post. Hunt was a 2005 graduate of Tipton High School. Tipton is near Altus in southwest Oklahoma.

  • Kham Xiong of St. Paul, MN joined the Army last year and was in Texas preparing for his own deployment to Afghanistan.
Xiong and his wife had three children together.
  • Michael Grant Cahill, 62, was a physician assistant who worked at the base as a civilian employee. The Spokane native worked at the Fort Hood Soldier Readiness Processing Center, helping give physicals to soldiers ready for deployment.
Cahill suffered a heart attack three weeks ago, and underwent heart surgery, his wife said. He was so excited to get back to work that he returned after taking only one week off for recovery, she said.

Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, 22, of Frederick, Okla., went into the military after graduating from Tipton High School in 2005 and had gotten married just two months ago, his mother, Gale Hunt, said. He had served 3 1/2 years in the Army, including a stint in Iraq.
