Concerning Spiritual Guidance
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God
One of the more misunderstood subjects connected with the spiritual life is spiritual guidance. Many feel that they are “led” to do something without any evidence of leading at all. Satan takes advantage of this aspect of Christian life and makes souls confused and distracted over what is the will of God. He deludes by ignoring the use of good judgment and knowledge, but acts on whims or thoughts instead.
True guidance of the Lord or being “led by the Spirit” means:
1. We are guided by His skillful hands. Psalm 78:72 - So He fed them according to the integrity of His heart; and guided then by the skillfulness of His hands.
2. We are guided by our faithfulness to God. Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them; but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
We should know by instinct what is right and wrong.
3. He guides the meek. Psalm 25:9 The meek will He guide in judgment: and the meek will He teach His way.
God uses renewed minds: Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The soul that understands and knows the principle of Christ’s character – in that he emptied Himself out on the cross as a sacrifice for all – needs no inner voice or special guidance to show him the path he should be walking.
